South Florida assistant coach Rod Strickland has been offered the head coaching position for Florida A&M University Men’s Basketball, according to sources.
Southern University associate head coach Mo Scott and James Madison assistant Byron Taylor also interviewed for the vacant position. Taylor is a former FAMU basketball player.
Former FAMU head coach Byron Samuels and the program parted ways after the season.
Strickland, has been an assistant coach at USF since 2014. Prior to USF, he worked under John Calipari at both the University of Kentucky and University of Memphis.
A New York City native who played college basketball at Depaul, Strickland played in the NBA from 1988-2005.
