On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, the cast of the upcoming OWN series “Checked Inn” welcomed the press to their Akwaaba Estate for a special tour and luncheon. Akwaaba owners, Monique Greenwood, Glynn Pogue and Glenn Pogue were on hand to answer questions and discuss more about the show and journey as owners of these exclusive properties.
The person most notable is Monique Greenwood who is very in charge of the day to day operations. After juggling two professions for years, Monique Greenwood left her job as editor-in-chief of Essence magazine so that she could put her full focus on her bed-and-breakfast business, a lifelong dream and a legacy that she hopes to leave to her daughter.
Today, Monique runs Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns, one of the most successful B&B businesses on the East Coast. As a successful entrepreneur, Monique runs her empire with heart and soul, serving as the top executive and the innkeeper—even, to the occasional guest, as a therapist.
“Checked Inn” is shot at the Mansion at Noble Lane, nestled in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. This former Woolworth estate welcomes couples who seek to escape and unwind, celebrate a milestone or reignite passion.
Although the properties are gorgeous, viewers will see that things may not always go smoothly as they wish, but Monique and her charismatic staff strive to work hard to make sure their guests have an experience they’ll never forget.
“Checked Inn” is scheduled to premiere on OWN on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
