Young people are many times very innovative and imaginative with ideas. Whether it is coming up with fun characters and superheroes, if a child has the time to create, they will pleasantly surprise you with what they come up with.
According to recent statistics, since 1998 around 712 children are thought to have died from heatstroke in the US alone after being left in hot vehicles. There still does not seem to be any evidence as to why they are left a cars alone, but this is definitely problem that we hear about constantly during the summer months.
There is some good news associated with news. A very bright 10-year-old boy by the name of Bishop Curry from McKinney, Texas, has come up with an invention that could prevent tragedies such as this from happening. Bishop who is a fifth Grader, fifth grader has invented something called the Oasis. What is Oasis? Oasis, is a clever little gadget that monitors the temperature inside the car.
Once it gets to a certain level, the device emits cool air while simultaneously alerting parents and authorities via an antenna. The idea for the Oasis came to Bishop after he learned that his neighbor’s 6-month-old infant had died from being in an overheated car, and although he only has a 3-D clay model of the device at the moment, he and his father have so far managed to raise over $24,000 for their invention.
The money will go towards manufacturing the device as well as securing the patent for it, so if you haven’t already, head on over to their fundraising page and help to bring this brilliant project to life.
This is such a groundbreaking device that solves a problem Bishop and his father have seemed to tap into creating something useful to all and this truly does show, what can happen after such a tragic event happens. This 10 year inventor used his imagination and created a product to help others.
